An ayurveda treatment was given to two groups of persons, one after 'cleansing' (via ayurvedic conventions) and the other not, in an unblinded manner to assess its effects on Parkinson's Disease.

The 3 herb Ayurveda treatment showed improvements in motor control after the 'cleansing' period, although both groups had worsened salivation symptoms.

Confounded with [Ashwagandha] and Hyoscyamus reticulatus.

Mucuna Pruriens, in doses of 15 and 30g, was tested in 8 persons suffering from Parkinson's Disease.

Both Mucuna Pruriens and standard Levodopa treatment (control) were equally effective in reducing symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. Mucuna has a faster absorption and peak levels, and a more favorable pharmacokinetic profile.

Mucuna Pruriens was given in satchels of 15g (about 250mg Levodopa per satchel) and tested on persons with Parkinsons disease in an open label study to assess efficacy.

Mucuna Pruriens was able to reduce symptoms of Parkinsons Disease, and the most effective dose appeared to be 6+/-3 satchels of Mucuna powder.
