Why is cancer research important?

    Despite affecting 1 in 6 people and ranking high on causes of mortality globally, 33–50% of deaths from cancer are from outcomes caused by modifiable behaviors. Some chronic infections are risk factors for cancer, which is a particularly important issue for prevention efforts.[1]
