In this meta-analysis of observational studies, a “healthy” dietary pattern (higher in fruits, whole grains, vegetables, and dairy) was associated with a decreased risk of gastrointestinal cancers, whereas an “unhealthy” dietary pattern (higher in red meat, processed foods, alcohol, and sugary beverages) was associated with an increased risk.
