Does glycemic load have any effect on PPD?

    Last Updated: October 13, 2024

Maybe. A 2020 secondary analysis of data collected from a group of 1,522 pregnant people with obesity found a small association between glycemic load and symptoms of depression.[1] However, this association was found in a re-analysis of data that were collected for another purpose. Any connection would need to be confirmed by studies specifically designed to investigate it.
