Is schizophrenia the same as psychosis?

No. Psychosis is a general term used to describe the sensation of losing touch with reality. Schizophrenia is a condition that causes psychosis. Psychosis can also be brought on by other mental health disorders like bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder, as well as brain diseases like Alzheimer’s Disease and epilepsy.^[1]
