The Crohn's disease exclusion diet (CDED) is a relatively new diet used to induce and maintain remission in Crohn's disease. The diet, which was designed to exclude or limit foods that might negatively affect the microbiome or intestinal barrier function, pairs whole foods with oral nutritional supplements. It has a very strict two-phase induction phase and a maintanance phase; in studies of this diet, participants undertake the diet with a dietitian's help. Under these conditions, the diet can induce and maintain remission in some people with Crohn's disease.[1][2]
