Does Boswellia benefit burns?

In a 2015 randomized controlled trial (RCT) that examined radiation burns from breast cancer treatment, topical Boswellia reduced skin redness and medication (cortisone) use and reduced skin damage severity, although not quite significantly (p-value=0.07), compared to a placebo.[1]

In a 2023 RCT examining 2nd-degree burns from fire, the healing time with topical Boswellia was similar to medication (1% silver sulfadiazine), though confidence is reduced in this finding because the medication group had worse (i.e., a higher percentage of their body covered with) burns.[2]
