All of the participants had physical therapy twice per week. They were also assigned to take a supplement, a placebo, or nothing.

The daily supplement provided 166 milligrams of Boswellia and 270 milligrams of devil’s claw. It also contained vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, selenium, manganese, and copper.

There was a greater improvement in functionality in the supplement group than in the other groups, but there were no differences between the groups for pain, stiffness, or total osteoarthritis symptoms.
