The participants took either 5.2 billion colony-forming units of Lactobacillus plantarum GKM3 or a placebo.

Although there were improvements in bowel movement frequency, abdominal pain, gastroesophageal reflux, nausea, and constipation in the probiotic group, these changes were not statistically significant compared to the placebo group.

Fecal lipid, triglyceride, and total cholesterol levels were also increased in the probiotic group, which suggests an increased excretion of fat. There were no differences between the groups.
