Raspberry ketone is a sweet-smelling molecule naturally found in fruits such as raspberries and blackberries. Its clinical effects in supplement form are unknown. Because there is so little clinical evidence, the benefits of raspberry ketone supplements in humans are unknown.

    Overview

    Dosage information

There is no human evidence for the effects of raspberry ketones. Studies on rats have used a dosage range of 0.545 to 2.18 grams per kg of body weight, which correlates to an estimated human dose of 80 to 340 mg per kg of body weight for humans. This dose is very high compared to other fat-burning compounds, so for that reason the standard supplemental dose of raspberry ketones for humans is in the 100 to 200 mg range. There is no solid evidence for the effectiveness of the doses listed below. Rat dosages correlate to the following human doses:

    • 870 to 3,700 mg for a 150 lb person
    • 1,100 to 5,000 mg for a 200 lb person
    • 1,500 to 6,200 mg for a 250 lb person

There is no human evidence for the effectiveness of raspberry ketones. Raspberry ketones cannot be concentrated in the human body the same way they are concentrated during studies done outside the body, on single cells.
