Mint (Mentha spp.) is a genus of aromatic, flowering herbs. The genus includes over a dozen species, such as wintermint, spearmint, and wild mint, as well as hybrids, such as peppermint. Mint leaves have been used culinarily and as a tea. In herbal medicine, mint teas, mint oils, and mint extracts such as menthol have been used for many purposes, such as digestion and nausea. Not all species of mint are safe to use at all concentrations and quantities. For example, pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium) oil is highly toxic.[1]
