Aldosterone

    Aldosterone is a steroid hormone synthesized in the adrenal cortex. It primarily acts on the kidneys to favor sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion, thus influencing blood pressure and water balance. It's also involved in maintaining acid-base balance.
