Creatine Kinase

    Last Updated: October 13, 2024

Creatine kinase (CK) is an enzyme mainly found in skeletal muscle and the heart. It converts creatine to phosphocreatine, which is used to make ATP. CK is primarily used as a marker of muscle damage. Intense exercise and skeletal muscle disorders can increase CK levels.
