End-stage renal disease (ESRD), or kidney failure, is the fifth and final stage of chronic kidney disease. In ESRD, the kidneys have lost their ability to filter waste from the blood, resulting in a need for dialysis or a kidney transplant to continue living.
End-Stage Renal Disease falls under the Kidney & Urinary Health category.
